I painted for a while today, I got a little stuck at one point when my professor made a really great point. He told me that I was "modeling" which means that I was building light in similar areas in each shape that I was creating. For example, look at the blue trunk-like representation of a heart valve in the top, middle of the painting. The light comes from the center of the shape (it goes from dark on the outside to light in the middle) and gives it sort of an inflatable toy appearance. So, he suggested that I use variation in my shape, color, and texture. He pointed out some great areas of the painting that I used as a reference to build from. And I continued. It is still in the making...
